We have just spent an evening in this pub for a birthday celebration. The food was fine although when questioning the waiter about the "sprouting broccoli" he was completely bemused that I could be questioning what was served on my plate. The "my husband is the chef" lady then presented herself again in bemusement that I could be wondering where the broccoli was when all I had was a plate of leaves. She then presented her "husband the chef" with a plate of uncooked leaves who informed me that the broccoli was in fact just the leaves of the broccoli and did I want to know where they came from!!! All I was looking for was the broccoli, is that too much to ask for!!! The atmosphere is non existent , lots of staff milling around but nothing to say, looking lost and aimless, serving courses like it was a conveyor belt without a moment to converse with the "customer". We in fact had to ask them to slow the service down so we had time to digest in between courses. It appears that no-one is talked to by any of the staff, there is not an ounce of hospitality given to anyone dining, there must be no regulars as no-one was greeted or acknowledged with recognition as they entered or ate during the evening. The food itself was good but not a wow, but it's not all about the food, having spent an evening with these automotons no matter how good the food the atmosphere and service would never draw us back again.... not a smile to be seen all evening!!!
